for the week of 8/27/2007 – 8/31/2007

Ms. Sunderman’s cell: 660-553-7213      email: sarah@lsaschool.com

The first few days of school seem to have gone very smoothly! All the students have done a superior job—they’re working hard and trying their best! I am very impressed!

Thank you to John Schwartz for providing us with class pets! We now have four guppies with baby guppies on the way!

Important happenings this week:

7 th & 8 th graders will be getting “chapel partners” on Wednesday. Chapel partners will also serve as “reading buddies” on Friday afternoons. 7 th & 8 th graders will pick out a children’s book to read to their chapel partners on Fridays. This should be a lot of fun for both the 7 th & 8 th graders, and the Kindergartners and 1 st & 2 nd graders.

Memory: Psalm 73:26 and 1 st & 2 nd Commandment with explanation.

7 th grade vocab test on Thursday. Books are due.

Religion: Books of the Bible quiz on Monday.

Reading: We are starting The Pigman on Monday. This is a contemporary fiction novel about two highschoolers who befriend an old man and dub him “the Pigman.” This book should take about 2 weeks to read, and we will do several activities as we progress throughout the book. The first Double-Entry Journals are due this week. Each student has an assigned day to turn his/hers in.

Writing Workshop:   We will discuss expectations/procedures on Monday and review the writing process. On Tuesday, we will review the format of an essay and on Wednesday and Thursday we will spend in-class time drafting essays. Topics will be left up to the students.

Dates to Remember:

Sept. 6: - “Free-read novel” paper #1 due. Algebra ˝ & Algebra 1 Test.

Sept. 12: Math 87 Test
